Taylor Swift
Born Taylor Alison Swift
American singer-songwriter and record-breaking global touring artist
Biography
Taylor Swift is an American singer-songwriter whose narrative songwriting has carried her from country music to global pop dominance. She is the first artist to win the Grammy Award for Album of the Year four times, and her Eras Tour became the highest-grossing concert tour of all time.
Early life
Swift was born in West Reading, Pennsylvania, and spent her early childhood on a Christmas tree farm in nearby Cumru Township. She began performing at local events as a child and, at 14, moved with her family to Hendersonville, Tennessee, to pursue a country music career in Nashville.
Career
Signed by Big Machine Records, she released her self-titled debut in 2006. Fearless (2008) made her a crossover star and won Album of the Year at the Grammys. With 1989 (2014) she moved fully into pop, and the lockdown-era albums Folklore and Evermore (2020) introduced an indie-folk sound.
After a dispute over the ownership of her master recordings, she began re-recording her first six albums as “Taylor’s Version” in 2021. Midnights (2022) and The Tortured Poets Department (2024) broke streaming records, and the Eras Tour (2023–2024) grossed more than two billion dollars.
